Dr. Jairam Varadaraj serves as the Managing Director of Elgi Equipments Ltd a globally present manufacturer air compressors based in Coimbatore India. Dr. Varadaraj is a third-generation entrepreneur from the illustrious family of L R G Naidu. For nearly 30 years, Dr. Varadaraj led and guided the organisation's business interests in textiles, polymers, mechanical machines and consumer appliances.

Dr. Varadaraj is an ex-Chairman of the Tamilnadu State Committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and past member of the Southern Region Council of CII. He is on Board of diverse set of companies involved in consumer appliances, textiles, castings, boilers and an active board member of non-profits engaged in medical care and education.

Dr. Varadaraj holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from George Washington University, the USA and a Ph. D in the international business from the University of Michigan, USA. He holds the distinction of holding four patents in the field of compressors, drive belts, consumer appliances and food manufacturing. He is passionate about innovation that is frugal, disruptive, affordable and world class.
